I believe my female has mouth rot. I know this is some what common amongst reptiles. I'm not even positive thats what it is but her right side of her mouth hands very slightly open and she has a black lining on her lip. I want to take her to the vet but I just can't afford it for a week or 2. How serious is this, is there any treatment or cure I can do in the meantime?

you can find some pics of ii if you google reptile mouth rot.
Here are some links to articles:

But nothing beats or campares to taking him/her to a vet. Perhaps someone can lend you the money, I would not wait two weeks.

Just my opinion.

Good luck!

Mouth rot (stomatitis) usually appears as a sore in one spot that may have some cheesy stuff around it. Reptiles don't have liquid pus like we do, their pus looks like a hard or cheesy matter if they have an infection. If the mouth is being held funny and the mucous membranes are drying out, it may be a sign of metabolic bone disease and the jaw bone is affected.

It's so hard for any of us to help you since 1) we are not vets and 2) we are not there with you. A vet visit would be so helpful in this case because your tegu is either going to need an antibiotic or antifungal if it is stomatitis, and calcium gluconate and perhaps an anti-inflammatory if it is MBD with visible symptoms.

How is the tegu eating? Giving her some natural sunlight wouldn't hurt because UV will stimulate D3 production, appetite, and it's a natural antibacterial component.

Keep us posted. Try calling a vet and seeing if they work out a payment system with you.
