I just built a new cage for my tegu and I dont want to have to buy 5 or more bags of cypress mulch to fill it properly from the pet store....Would cypress mulch bought in big bags from like a gardening store or a store such as that, would it be safe to use or would I risk getting mites.

Nah that's fine to use. I actually think most people here that use cypress mulch bought it from a hardware store. I did icon_razz.gif

I used to get my Cypress mulch from a Nursery. The first few times it was fine and than I started to find some little rocks in there and some poop ( and it was not my Tegus poop because I found it in the bag when I opend it ).Now I have been getting my cypress mulch at Wallmart.I have found out that some of the Wallmarts had it and some didn't.What you can do is call around ( Hardware stores or even feed stores have it ) and see if they have it and what size bag it is and how much it cost before you drive around and waste your gas icon_wink.gif .
