Nice! I'd say probably the 160w bulb.

Anyone know how often you have to replace MVBs?

And lol I live in Clearwater! Pretty awesome.

did you go to the show in tampa last weekend?

and the bulb has a 1 year warranty, so hopefully (at the price) it will last at least a year

Nah I wanted to go really bad but I didn't have any money and if I went I'd wanna get something to bring home waaaay too bad lol.

But yeah $49 for a bulb, hopefully it lasts longer than the ~8 months a tube UV bulb lasts

the show was awesome. that's actually where i got my b/w tegu. hadn't planned on buying anything, just going with a friend to grab a snake or 2. but halfway down the first isle had this feeling i was going to be leaving with less cash than when i walked in. ended up leaving with my baby tegu Rupert, a tank, lamp, etc. now i'm building him a nice big enclosure:)

I've heard from others who use those MV bulbs that can last from 18 months to even 2 years. Plus, if he hibernates, you'll be turning off for a little while. It is recommend that you get a UV meter so that you know for sure how much output the light is giving you.

The cost of the light is for quality, in my opinion, more so than longevity,

MV lights (depending on the brand) will last a long time without burning out. However the UVB output deteriorates over time, so even if your bulb appears to be working, it may not be emitting sufficient UVB. It is recommended to change them every year, even if they have not burnt out. Actually an even better idea was just suggested by Laura, which is to get a UVB meter. Although they are expensive, if you are dealing with multiple lights, over the long run it will save you money.
