Here is one of the now not so new tegu I was telling you all about a while ago. His name is homer and he is a columbian gold tegu. He still has a nasty attitude but his retained shed is coming of nicely now as you can see in the pictureut. A couple of the toes still look bad but trust me they looked 100 times worst when we first got him
This is my newest pic of monty. We got him at a meer seven inches and now he's grown to a whopping two feet. He always likes napping in the bath.
And because of this increase in size we also had to build his adult cage. Its not quite finished I have some more ramps and shelves to put in still so he only has free range of half of it for now. It turned out pretty good for our first homemade cage attempt.
There are a few others in my gallery as well.

So far the cage has cost me about $150 including the lights. I used melamine for the wood, I believe it was the 5/8 inch stuff. The dimensions of the cage are 5 feet long, 3 feet wide, and 3 feet high. Eventually the side he is in now will be completely filled with mulch up to the divider and have a screened top.
The "roofed" side is going to have astroturf. You can't really tell from the pictures but it also has a hinged door on the front with a sliding lock. I predrilled all the holes and used screws to put it all together.

I have a few who love the water and will nap right away and I have a few who don't like the water, but will relax in a few minutes if they don't think they can get out. They will then nap too.
