I really hate to do this, but I need to sell my black and white tegu. My current living/work situation is keeping me from spending the proper time to work with him.

As for the tegu himself, he’s from Bert’s stock and is a little over a year old. He hibernated his first winter (I got him at the end of that), but this winter he doesn’t seem to want to slumber. And I say he, but I’m not positive on that (maybe someone can help me out on that when I post pics).

He’s a very hearty eater, lots of energy, and perfect toes and tale. As for tameness, he’ll need some work to get him “puppy-dog” tame (the kind of work I’m finding I don’t have time for now). He’s not used to being held or overly petted. However he is used to people being around, and is very mild mannered. He’s a very inquisitive lizard and if it’s his own idea to go somewhere, he shows no fear and has crawled into my lap and even fallen asleep there a few times when I’ve sat with him out of the cage. Ideally, someone who wants to work with him, I’d think, would do well to have a ground level cage that you can just open up and let him come to you (he does well this way, even going back into his cage, on his own, after exploring).

He’s not territorial with his cage (doesn’t charge or nip) and while he loves to eat, he’s never mistaken my limbs for food.

I live in the Chicagoland area and would much rather find someone local, rather than ship him (I’m willing to drive a bit beyond that area if I don’t have to ship the animal). I’m asking for $125 and am willing to throw in some feeder roaches (hissing) if the buyer wants them (though, to be fare, you should only take the roaches if you have other animals to feed them to or some other interest in them as the tegu in question has mostly lost interest in them).

If worse comes to worse, I suppose I can ship, but at the buyers expense.

I’ll post pictures later today.

Thank you!

Hi I'm from wisconsin. i am very interested in your tegu, as I have two now. If you could post some pics of him now along with the cage, I would be interested in maybe meeting you half way.

Hey Gaber, where in WI do you live?
I was wondering how many tegu fanatics on this site are from WI?

Hey Gaber. Half-way wouldn't be bad at all (I live in the far northwestern burbs of Chicago). Pictures will be coming up in just a few minutes . . .

OK, here are some pics of the tegu in question. These are very recent, from earlier today, in fact, when I had him out.

Here he is cruising closer and then climbing into my lap. He seemed particuarly interested in me today, even after eating, nudging me, butting his head into my legs, digging into my lap. I got a good sense of how powerful these animals are.

Here's his whole body.

And because it was asked for, below is a pic of the cage the tegu is currently in. He's grown a bit and while he still has room to manuver, he's definitely gotten to the point where he needs a bigger cage (he definitely enjoys his outings int he room).

That was my first thought too icon_smile.gif Itll probably be more obvious in a few months, but he does look at lot like my teg when he was younger.

Hey Rome,

I originally wanted to avoid shipping (to save stress on the animal and because I've never shipped a living creature before)...but I might be willing to if no one else in my area responds.
