I am taking some of my animals to my daughters pre-school class tomorrow. I wish that pixal was socialized enough to take, but I just don't think he can handle it. I'm taking my African Rock python, Savu python, Creamsicle and albino striped cornsnakes, and my leopard Geckos. I can't wait till pixal is tame enough to go along, a big lizard would round off the show nicely. I do this every year for my son and daughter. It really makes me want to be a biology teacher, I like teaching kids and adults all the positive things about reptiles. I would eventually like to have a little traveling zoo that I take to schools and seminars. Growing up in the southern missouri bible belt, I do alot of defending reptiles in the spring and summer months. Alot of the local farmers let me come out and snake hunt their land, I leave the "beneficial" snakes and remove the venomous. I then hike out into the natural forest and release all that I remove. _________________ 1.0 African Rock Python

Tegster goes to my sons 5th grade class every month around the first. The class (15 students) is plotting his length/growth on a graph. My son's teacher was insistent that we bring him in. Now the principal would like my son to do a presentation for the lower grades (K-4).
We just had our 12th snow day yesterday so I have no idea when she can arrange for that to happen.
Anyway, I supervise the mission. I insist the children are quiet and not make any sudden moves. They each get to touch Tegster.
These times are fun for my son because that is when Tegster is at his most clingy. He knows my son is his "safe place" and won't leave him. _________________ Renee

I've also thought about herpetological field research and biology for the conservation department. I've helped them do population studies the past few years on indiginous snake species, Timber rattlesnakes specifically. I love the work and being outside doing what I love most.....looking for all matter of creepy-crawlies. _________________ 1.0 African Rock Python

Venomousdave I have been doing field studies on timber rattlers and native turtle species for PA Fish and boat Com. for about 8 years this past year they put Most of the species i studied in field under protection no seasonal limits no possesion I would like to think i had something to do with it because All my studied herps are in decline in the areas they were once common or could be found in good numbers so good for you great Job

thanks for the congrats on the promotion!!!!! We actually have Canebrakes down here, I consider them two different species, alot of people don't. They are much lighter in color than timbers, and are not afraid to put venom in people . They are considered endangered and fully protected in Missouri, I also have done quite a bit of work with the Massasauga rattlesnake as well. They are on the verge of critically endangered in Missouri, with an estimated 2500 specimens left in the wild. The plight of our native reptiles and amphibians in the country is so depressing. A lack of understanding and blind fear are usually the culprit. Don't get me started on exotics endangered by overcollecting. I preach captive bred every time I discuss pet reptiles. _________________ 1.0 African Rock Python
