Calcium fortified babyfood, pheonix worms, and break that piece of shit flourescent bulb over your own head for buying it and get an MVB. Solar-Glo MVB, PowerSun, or MegaRay. Take your pick but get it done.
A flourescent UVB bulb works perfectly fine as long as the directions are followed and as long as the bulb is changed out now and than. As a matter of fact, I have used the Zoo Med ReptiSun 10.0 Compact Fluorescent UVB Bulb on my tegus for years when they are inside.
As far as the rude statement, who pissed in your cherrios this morning?
apriliarufo or Drew, instead of just jumping in show some respect, it' too late.
Thank you angelrose.
"Below is the message I posted just after Joanna died"
I found her dead this morning curled around her water bowl.
Well as many of you know my Columbian B&W (Joanna) had been fighting many issues for the past couple of months. She had been retaining sheds, heavily sleeping, acting sluggish, refusing to eat and at the very end she had uncontrollable twitching.
I had tried every known remedy for all of her issues. Her retained shed and swollen toes did clear up, but was quickly followed by the refusal to eat and the twitching. I was told to increase her UVB light exposure and not to worry about the lack of appetite.
I had an appointment to have her seen at the reptile vet on monday. It was the soonest appointment I could get. He is the only reptile vet worth seeing in town.
Joanna was the first tegu I ever owned and she will be very missed. I purchased joanna when I was in middle school as a hatchling. She was the sweetest tegu I have ever handled. She was like a kitten. She would cuddle next to me every night she was out of her cage. I even gave her the chance to run around the room freely like she did when she was young. I put her on one side of the room and I layed on the other side. Instead of running or exploring, she chose to walk back over to me, climb up my shirt and fall fast asleep. Joanna was the greatest pet I have ever owned and maybe one day I will be lucky enough to have another tegu just as great as she was.
Thank you all for your help and advice, as well as your prayers. It was your guys help that kept her alive as long as it did. All of the advice I received helped in some way. So again, I thank you all.

Man i'm sorry to hear she passed away. You just take it easy mate. As you said she had various health issues, and sometimes it just doesn't matter how much you try....unfortunately not every animal is expected to reach the estimated max age.
You did all you could....and i know Joanna is more than thankful for it.
May she rest in peace.
Take care and hang in there

I had lost my little nile monitor not too long ago and I like you tried everything..calcium drops, calcium powder, baby food, forced feeding, new uvb bulb. his front leg swelled up and he stopped eating and became sluggish. it's a long story and I took him to 2 vets the second vet finally got it right but he was to far gone.
so, just like you I did try and perhaps that made him stay around a little longer so I could say my final thoughts to him.
but I learned now to watch out for the slightest little change in them and keep on it.
Steve, you certainly did have alot of very good times and time well spent with her and you will have that forever.
a n d with that comes alot of experience so stay aboard with all of us.
