Out of curiosity.. does anyone have a tame adult columbian tegu?
I can't seem to find a single picture of anyone actually holding one, they're all just glaring up from their cages.

My Kali is a little alligator.. lol, but good to know there's hope! The lunging and biting is cute now, sure, but in a year or two?
Question for meanah (and everyone, for that matter) Can the different locales co-habitate if they're given plenty of room? Would doing so endanger or benefit them?

as of right now i have a 2 year old 25in male arg and a 2 year old 24 in female col. living in a 6.3.2 cage and they love it. they bask together and sleep in the hiding area together. the only hard part is shes a slow eater. and he will eat all before she gets to try. so im goin to have to feed her without him. _________________ 0.1.0 Colombian Tegu

We're definitely going to be getting an arg in the near future, then. (Well, we were going to anyway.. but this gives me more of an excuse, haha.

Wow Daniel. They seem small for being two years old .Leonidas is 5 months old and is 24" long.Zeus is still hibernating but in January he was 18 1/2" long and he was just a few months old.How did you introduce them to each other. We are wanting to build a enclosure next month but I'm worried that they don't get along. They haven't seen each other yet.

i first got them to meet on the living room floor and they had no problems just licked each other and smelled each other then just started walking around. so then i put them in the bath tub and let them swim around together and they still had no problems. so i did that for a week then last saturday. i said i was done waiting and i put them both in the big cage and they started roaming around. not even caring that they were together. they sleep in the hiding area together and they bask together. i dont think that they know they are different. but they love the cage. _________________ 0.1.0 Colombian Tegu

I don't think I have a pic of our Colombian, Oreo, being held, but she is pretty tame. She likes to jump onto your head, which can be annoying. She hangs out on the sofa with my teenage daughter while she reads. She eats on the kitchen floor on newspaper (Oreo, not my daughter, LOL), then poos, so that her cage is never dirty. Nice little tegu!
She huffs at us in her cage, but runs up our arms to get out and be held. She's about 2 or 2 1/2 by now and 26-29" inches long. _________________ Laura R (FL)

1 little gator

4 frogs
some bugs
and a partridge in a pear tree
that's funny, Angel is similiar. goes to show ya not all colombians are the same either. I think they get better as they get older or maybe just used to ya
Kali huffs, hisses and gapes, then spazzes out and throws herself at the walls..
I know she's just young and scared, but with it happening every day, you'd think she'd get over it! Hopefully some day.
