You should be able to take them out of hide just incase of an emergency so make sure they trust you enuf to bring them out of hiding, then you will achieve dog tame I am telling my views from my own experience no disrespect to other handlers. Like I said before all reptile handlers create and build there own way to tame there reptiles I have over 15 yrs exp. and every pro herper I know has there own way you just have to find yours long as your tegu is healthy you are doing the right thing mine are and have never had any problems with take them out of hide.
