Hi All,

I was in a pet store that has a red female tegu recently - it really stuck with me. She's smaller, about 3 feet or so. I can get more details and a picture, but her current state saddened me and I just want to go there and rescue her. I don't have enough room or experience to help, but she gets little to no handling. Because of her aggressive demeanor, I doubt anyone will ever adopt her. She just sits on the floor, in that tiny cage. It's f*ing pathetic.

Is there anyone out there who can take her, or some way to help get her to an experienced home who can work with her? I can help from my end in any way possible - shipping, data, pictures, you name it.

No worries if not, I think the store is doing what they can... but honestly, it isn't right how she lives.

Best,
-Dan

I'll take in a red female. How aggressive is she? What are they asking for her? I'm sure my Bubba would love to have a girlfriend. Bubbategu2

I'll head to the pet store tomorrow when they open - I can call you if you'd like and ask questions, handle her, and find out all the info? I'm sure they'll be asking a very fair price - to be honest, I think they're just overwhelmed by tegus. Makes me so upset - if they can't handle them, why get them?? Argh. She's so beautiful...

Drop me a PM if you'd like and we'll setup a time. It'd be wonderful to get her out of there and to someone who can care for her. That would make my day - and hers icon_smile.gif

Best,
-Dan

Hi Angelrose,

Good to know! Please send me an email if you (or anyone) wants info. I'm at dnp607 at pacbell.net - anytime! I can call you as well when at the store. I'll just go in order of who responded first and ability to care for her. You guys are awesome - thank you for the interest and response.

Hi Guys,

Ok, first, apologies - this is a golden, not a red. My girlfriend told me this a million times and I still typed "red". Sorry again for the confusion - I'm trying my best as a beginner to get this girl a good home.

She's a 32 inch 3 year old female. Healthy, strong and from what I can see a challenge to handle. She'll need to go to someone who knows how to deal with neglected animals. The lack of handling has left her aggressive when handled. She seems to be getting a bit more tame in the last few visits I've made, but only a little.

Deb, apologies, I thought I had your email but don't!

She's so pretty! Mine is a black and white and the golds are such a striking contrast! Are you going to take her Angelrose? Will the pet store just get another?

I don't think they'll be getting more - they seemed genuinely out of sorts about it all... They are decent people as pet stores go, just out of their element on this one. There's another there (hatchling) but it's been sold. Yey! At least, that's what the tank says. I'll keep checking back.

Hi Folks,

Last post on this, I promise icon_smile.gif The little girl is still there if anyone is interested. I'm going to post locally soon, so thought I'd take a last stab on a good home. bubbategu2 is considering and contemplating and/or may know someone as well - but in case she decides otherwise (which is very understandable) all are welcome to drop me a note.

Best,
-Dan
