Okay so I reinforced my porch screen with two 2x4's and the damn dog came back while I was bout to leave to goto class when I go and check on Leo and there is the damn dog again with the screen in its mouth so I chased the dog away and when I got back to the porch Leo was gone. Now I have the hole neighborhood on the look out. Hopefully he is like a dog and will come back home soon. Definately going to be reporting the damn dog!!!

Ohmigosh, you gotta report that dog!!!!
I know it's not your fault, but I would advise a different setup for your tegu while this dog problem is an ongoing thing. Better nothing happen to your 'gu. I pray you find him soon! I can only imagine how you must feel. I lost mine for about 10 min and I thought I was going to go nuts and cry all at the same time. _________________ Laura R (FL)

yea dude, once my tegu figured out i had a living room and kitchen, she is allways looking to escape my room. honestly your gonna have to find a perminant solution to that door or your tegu'll always capitalize on a situation where they can get out.
ohh, and i'm sending energy your way good intentions that you find your lizard. i find mine is a creature of habit. follow the path it took last time. _________________ 1.1.0 Arg B/W Tegu Joker n Groxy

Oh, man...you gotta be goin' nuts...I feel for ya.
If you like, here's my two cents again...remember, this is all your business and your decisions..you do what you think you should.
Now, having said that, let me gently point out that if you had jumped
and made a complaint last week.....very likely this incident still would have happened. ( like I've said, I know how people are. One warning from Animal Control would not likely have created instant animal control on this dog's owners) However, had you made a complaint last week, you'd now be making a second complaint in less than a week's time, and you'd be starting to get some real leverage.
You've got class, you're busy, you don't have time to 'jump'...I know...been there myself, believe me. Still....here we are.
You now need (just my two cents) to prioritize not only getting Leo
back safe and sound, but also to take the steps necessary to ensure that the owners of this dog know that continued irresponsible dog management is simply going to be much more trouble than they want to go through. Step up, Dragonfyre! Where's that dog tonight?
He's home with his family. Where's Leo? Whatcha gonna do about it?
Please understand where I'm coming from, Dragonfyre...I'm not even trying to beat up on you. And...I have so been where you are right now.
The time for being 'nice' or being 'neighborly' is long past.
I'll be sending you good energy too Everything'll be fine

I'm so sorry about what happend.I hope and pray that you will find Leo.Try to look for any holes that are close to the house.Or bushes.Put some fresh food out there for him and see if he comes back.I know it's harder to do this out side than if he would be inside because there are other animals outside that can eat that food.I would talk to your neighbors about what happend and that you will ( I hope you will ) report them. Please keep us posted.Good luck and hang in there.
I have reported that damn dog three times now! animal control will not come they said they have a "bussy" scheduale, (like catching exotic animals to brag about). My whole neighborhood is going to be looking for him. I am going to put out flyers today as soon as I get back from school today. I am calling animal control AGAIN because if I get that dog before them . . . well I wont say. I've had my baby since he was only 2 months old and now he is 1 1/2yr. My columbian has been looking frantically for Leo. she has not been the same either. I will not givve up on him and I hope he will come back. I was working on building him a cage or trying to find one to buy but being a full time student and working at a $6.79 p/hr job it's hard to afford. I thank all of you guys for your support. I hope that I can find Leo because if not then I won't be able to get another tegu.

I really believe since you had Leo for so long that he will be back.Unless it is very cold outside ( for him wanting to dig in some where and go into hibernation ) you have a good chance getting him back.Good luck with him, school and everything else.
So far still no Leo. I am starting to think that someone saw him roaming around outside and kept him for themselves. I notified animal control, like they're gonna do anything anyways, and I have a neighbor that is FWC Officer. I talked with him and at first even he thought he was a Monitor and was asking me if I had a class 3 permit. I told him nope no monitor its a tegu. He calmed down and became nice and said he will notify his fellow officers about Leo and if they do find him then they will contact me first. I have sent out flyers around my neighborhood and everyone is being very cooperative so far.
Since Leo has been gone my columbian tegu, Selky, has not eaten or come out of her hide much. She and Leo would wake up together and sunbath. i am contemplating getting another columbian to put with her if Leo does not show up in the next two weeks. I mean really, how hard is it to miss a 3 1/2' Dalmation colored lizard walking around in a residential area. I know he is scared of loud noises so I have faith that he has not gone into a busy intersection, besides if he did then I'm sure I'd hear a lot of tires squeeling...hehe. I miss my baby!!! I would like to get another argentine but I just dont have the money. I can only afford to get another columbian, and hopefully it'll be as tame as Selky.
I'm at a loss for words, and emotionally I can take it anymore. My girlfriend and I have raised Leo and Selky since they were only 2 1/2 months old and now they are both 1 1/2 years old.
Once again I thank all of you that have sent out their best wishes and prayers. I will probably get another tegu from the same guys I got Leo and Selky, but if anyone has any good advice on different breeders thaat sell them cheap around florida please let me know. I paid $70 for Leo and $25 for Selky.

I truely hope you find Leo or that someone does and returns him to you. I had something similar happen when Sancho was first put into his outside enclosure. He found the weakness in the set up and escaped. I learned that regardless of how "tame" my tegu became he was fundamentally a wild animal looking for any opportunity to roam free and unlike a dog or a cat he would not respond, that is come running when I called him. Knowing this I created a secure home for him both for my peace of mind and his safety.
Consider that your other tegu might be picking up on your vibe right now that is you're probably visibly upset, moving faster and speaking louder without even being aware of this. This behavior is more predator like and you little tegu could be scared.
Good luck and I do hope Leo turns up.
BTW - I understand that with a busy life it's so hard to give adequate care to a tegu, I considered giving Sancho up when my life took me away from being able to give him the attention he deserves. Fortunatly, I've been able to make a little more time for him and also understand that he's probably "happier" being left alone in his enclosure than being bothered by me. _________________ 1.0.0 B&W

Hopefully you can find Leo. I know I freaked out when I lost my two kittens within a couple weeks of bringing them home. They knocked the screen out of my window and fell down from a second story window.
Luckily I found one outside looking up and the second was found by someone and put in the stairwell of the apartment building.. but what a horrible night, I can sympathize with how you are feeling.
Definately you are going to want to get a bit more permanent fix for your screen.
So still no Leo still. Selky still won't eat or come out of her hide except for in the morning to look for Leo. Then back into her hide. I am going to get her another friend. I found another columbian that was born sometime this year for only $20. I know how I can tell the difference of sex for an argentine but I'm not sure exactley how to check for the columbian other than probe. Any ideas? Here's two pix of Selky. she's bout 1 1/2 years old...
