Hello Mason-J...I switched to Exo terra lighting for all my animals and they are all doing very well. I used to use the zoo med power sun. However, I switched to the exo terra sun simulating lamp. It comes in 125 watts and 160 watts. I use the 125 watt int my enclosure which is 6 X 3 X 2 1/2.
I switched because I was told by a reptile shop owner that keeps very large tegus that the zoo med power sun bulb was not good (to put it lightly). He said it is also made to be used with birds. He said that in his expereince, he didn't have good luck with it. I know that I had great results when I switched over.
However, it is all up to you. I do know of people that use exo terra products and they are all very happy wit them. I believe exo terra makes the best lighting.
Here is a link for the bulb. You can find it in pet stores for about $45. Which is a lot cheaper than the zoo med one.
I have had great experience with the Exo Terra Solar Glow bulbs. I find them to be far superior to the zoo med ones. I have access to a UV meter, and the exto bulbs don't really show much UV ray qualily deteriation over time. I have been using a bulb for over a year now on my beardies and the UV is still emitting at an exceptional level.
Plus another plus to this bulb is that it has a 6 month waranty... can't go wrong with that
