I recently aquired a Col B/W Tegu(had it for about 5 days now), it appears to be a couple months old, from head to tail it is either 12 to 14 inches long, a very loseable size; So I can't let it out to wander around my home yet. I don't have ANY issues with biting, tail whips, hissing, just a very skiddish reptile.

My Tegu it seems much like my snake likes to hide all the time, the temp in its basking spot is 102 degress, elsewhere in its home is around 85, the hide under the basking light is 82 degress. Are these temperature approprate? When the lizard is out and about in its cage, it will either be basking or scratching at the walls jumping up as if to get out. About how how long till I can expect the tegu to soak in the water and 'absorb' the UVB rays for longer periods of time (what I am primarily concerned with)?

Also I have been DEEPLY considering getting a lizard leash for the Tegu so that I can get in my bonding time while being productive.
Typically I will try to hold the Tegu mid day when it comes out from hiding for a tiny bit (hard becuase it is very skidish), then I feed it, after that I allow it to bask for about 10-15 min to process its food and warm up; then I try holding it for as long as possible. Sometimes I take it to the bathroom and sit in the tub with it, allowing it to crawl on me and around the sides of the tub, or I take it to my room to hold it then allow it crawl around my desk for awhile, occasionally having to chase after it when it jumps onto the floor attemps the amazing escape.
I wonder if I could put a lizard leash on it and allow it roam around my room for a few hours on end, set the basking light up in a corner, that way I can find it when I need and allow it see that I'm no threat to it WHILE getting work done?

Thanks for your time and consideration in reading my post, I am sure what I am asking might seem a bit odd, but personally for my own mental wel being I would like the lizard to experience is little stress as possible when handling and fast forward to being able to safely take it outside without fear of losing my Tegu.
